CDE ResCom 2022 is a 2.5 day retreat Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th May 2022. The focus on ‘Communicating your Research Effectively’.
The Centre for Digital Entertainment (CDE) is delighted to be running the event with our sister Centres for Doctoral Training in the EPSRC Digital Entertainment theme, the Centre for Intelligent Games and Games Intelligence IGGI and the Centre for Media and Arts Technology MAT.

This beautiful venue provides a tranquil setting, the perfect environment to enable creative thinking, sharing and learning – uninterrupted.
During the retreat you will have time for socialising and relaxing, the communal areas boast a lounge, licensed bar (items to be paid for at time of purchase), dining room, library (some board games are available for use), TV room and Chapel, not forgetting the secluded garden.
The ability to breakdown complex information for a range of audiences, including lay audiences not expert in your area, is one of the key skills to develop during your doctorate. This retreat will give you an opportunity to develop and practice the communication skills and tools you need as an effective researcher and which are considered valuable, regardless of the eventual sector you work in.
There will be time for socialising and relaxing too.

For those travelling from outside of the Bath area, your local administrator will arrange travel to Bath before or by 12PM on Monday 23rd May 2022. Taxi transfers have been arranged to collect attendees from Bath Spa station (departing around 12pm) to the Ammerdown Centre in time for Lunch at 1pm.
Taxi transfers have been arranged with V Cars and will be available from 12.00pm on Monday 23rd May 2022:
When you arrive into Bath Spa Station, please make your way towards The Royal Hotel which is a short walk to the right of the station, BA1 1JP. The taxi’s will collect in front of the hotel.
Francesca Migliaccio / Zoe Leonard will be on had at the station to co-ordinate the taxi departures.
Accommodation has been arranged at the beautiful retreat location of the Ammerdown Centre. All rooms will be allocated on a single occupancy basis.
All meals will be provided during the retreat, and any dietary requirements or allergies will be catered for. Please do let us know if you have any dietary requirements. Approximate Meal Service Times: Breakfast between 08.00 – 09.00 Lunch 13.00 – 14.00 Dinner 18.30

In line with the government, University and venue guidance if you have COVID symptoms up to 5 days before the event use a lateral flow test if you still have one available, and do not attend if you test positive or have a temperature or clear COVID symptoms. During the event staff and students are asked keep a distance and the venue will ensure good ventilation. You may wish to bring an extra layer of clothing in case it is cooler in the meeting space. Hand sanitisers will be available on site. You are welcome to wear face covering however, this is not mandatory. If you are at greater risk and have been advised of any additional measures that will reduce the risk of you catching Covid while you are at the retreat please get in touch with Zoe and Francesca.
