Big win for Bournemouth University at the TIGA Awards 2016

TIGA – Europe’s largest network of independent game developers and publishers, held their flagship event on 10th November 2017. The TIGA Games Industry Awards, now in their fifth year, are becoming one of the industry’s most exciting and prestigious events. The Centre for Digital Entertainment were one of the sponsors for the event. Acting Director Peter Hall and Project Manager Mike Board both attended the ceremony, flying the CDE flag.

The prestigious awards ceremony took place in ‘Christ Church Spitalfields – London’, a beautiful baroque building perfect for the celebrations.

CDE was shortlisted as a finalist for the category “Education Initiative and Talent Development”. Unfortunately on this occasion, CDE didn’t win the award but we are still able to celebrate a little of our success.

Bournemouth University was a finalist in the category for best “Education Institute”, and we are pleased to say that Bournemouth University won the award. Many congratulations to Christos Gatzidis and the Academics and supporting teams at BU. Christos attended the event and was honoured to collect the award on behalf of Bournemouth University.

Christos is delighted with the award and the success of Bournemouth University, saying “It is fantastic for Bournemouth University to be recognised by TIGA and the games industry in the UK, for the contribution it is making. Generating graduates who are both starting their own indie studios but are also employable in this area. In addition to this, it is great to also have the same recognition for other BU initiatives relating to the games industry, such as the Centre of Digital Entertainment, the joint doctorate programme BU has with the University of Bath.”
