The Centre for Digital Entertainment students, academics and staff members took part in the 2019 Bath Dragon Boat Race to support Bath-based charity, Designability! Designability is one of CDE’s industrial partners, hosting two of our research engineers, Zack Lyons and Thomas Williams and working together to change lives. Designability design and create products for children and adults living with a disability or long-term illness. They help provide independence in everyday life, but can also be fun, just like the Wizzybug an innovative powered wheelchair designed specifically for children under five, giving them the ability to play and join in with friends and family. Ability NOT Disability! In the last 50 years they have made over 300 products and we want to help them make even more, and be a part of transforming the lives of people living with a disability across the UK.
The Dragon BoatRace took place on Sunday 8th September 2019 in Bath. 14 teams took part in the day, which was all great fun in aid of a fantastic cause.
CDE came 8th overall, which is a great achievement, given that no one in the team had previous experience in Dragon Boat Racing! In the pictures below you will see the team having a practice and then during one of the races (we are in boat number two in the middle).
Well done to everyone who took part and a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us so far.
