CDE has organised the following presentation from Jon Rennie, Managing Director of Bait Studio, at the University of Bath (8W 1.32) on Monday 14th November at 2pm.

Building Animation From The Ground Up

Bait Studio/Cloth Cat Animation/Thud Media are an integrated animation, VFX and interactive company that uses systems from across each industry to streamline and organise production. In particular, we have artists working on a variety of productions at any one time, often across the three companies. This takes an incredible amount of co-ordination and it’s an ever-evolving process. Part of that is integrating our software into the pipeline so that we can track renders, versions and edits with ease. Beyond this, we are investigating game engines as a route to providing animation and interactive experiences for a new generation of media platforms. I’ll be showing how our systems have evolved over the past five years and what we will be doing in the future to give even more time to artists to create amazing stories.

Jon Rennie began his career in computer games, working at Bullfrog Productions on titles such as Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper and Populous: The Beginning. Since then, he has made several short films which have been shown nationally and internationally and started his own company in Cardiff to produce visual effects and animation for the film and broadcast industries. He is now Managing Director of Bait Studio (Motion Graphics and VFX), Cloth Cat Animation (Series Animation) and Thud Media (Games and Interactive).
