FutureEverything Digital Research Outreach and Impact Lab

Designing effective engagement and communication for research and innovation

Tuesday 19 January 2016, 12.00pm – 5.30pm, University of Nottingham, Jubilee Campus, Nottingham, NG8 1BB (buffet lunch and refreshments provided)

DEN is delighted to announce a half-day Digital Research Outreach and Impact Lab event, specifically for DENs CDT students or Early Career Researchers, which will be delivered by Manchester-based FutureEverything on Tuesday 19 January 2016.

This event is fully funded by DENs so it is free of charge for PhD Students/ECRs and can accommodate up to 25 PhD or Early Career Researchers who are working in the following areas:

  • Digital and creative innovation
  • Social and civic innovation
  • Urban applications of new technologies including physical computing, the Internet of Things and big/open data.

Produced by Bristol Media and Creative United, it provides key guidance on strategy, what investors need to hear, case studies on growth, contracting, successful crowdfunding and the changing attitude of banks to creative investment.

With a team from True Digital, Steer & Co, Entrepreneurial Spark, Nat West and Smith & Williamson providing workshops, guidance sessions, and 1:1s.

The cost is discounted to £40, with the opportunity to enrol for a FREE programme of investment coaching as part of the Creative Industries Finance scheme run by Creative United. Quite simply, it’s the investment support programme best suited to creative companies, taking you to key investors.

The CDE Annual Conference 2016 dates and venue have been confirmed. The event will take place at the fabulous Italian Villa, Compton Acres, 164 Canford Cliffs Road, Poole, Dorset, BH13 7ES.

Be prepared for a new take on this annual gathering of students, supervisors and industry members, something to get those technical minds ticking and creative juices flowing.

The Festival of Learning will take place at Bournemouth University in 2016. It will be the festival’s fourth year, running from Saturday 25th – Wednesday 29th June. More details can be found here along with a video from this year to give you some inspiration. You can also take a look at the Team CDE activities from 2015 on the CDE website. Those of you who are interested in putting a team together need to email your event idea and team members to Zoe Leonard by Thursday 14th January. The deadline for application is 31st January. This is the perfect public engagement experience and the opportunity to gain valuable public feedback on your research. Think of fun and engaging activities that the public can relate to but that will also enhance your research in some way. Looking forward to hearing from you.
