CDE at Develop:Brighton 2015

Develop Brighton 2015 – took place in July 2015. Now in its 10th year this is a must attend event within the games development industry. This 3-day event is dedicated to design, art, coding, business, marketing, audio, production and breakthrough new technologies.

CDE was there in force with CDE Project Managers, Administration, Academics and Students available to talk all things CDE and enjoy the many keynotes and workshops available.

It was a great opportunity to meet with existing industry colleagues, chat with other Higher Education Institutes and give attendees a real insight into what CDE can offer to both its students and potential industry partners. Highlights included chatting with some of the key companies within the industry, including Rocksteady Studios and Unity, visiting the stands of London Geometry and UWE Bristol and our very own Daniel Cox having a go at the game demo of Playwest / UWE Bristol’s 64 player prototype.

Thanks to ‘Fat Pebble’ and ‘Paperseven‘ for allowing us to demo games on the CDE stand. It was a pleasure to be able to promote some of the work of our industry partners and also show the link between these games and our CDE Research Engineers Anamaria Ciucanu and Adam Boulton.

Rahul Day was also able to join us and was lucky enough to be invited to be a part of the Fast Forward Session on the last day of the event. The ‘quick-fire end-of-conference spectacular’ allowed a selected few to win over the audience with their three-minute industry predictions and lessons from the trenches.

Develop Brighton was a very successful event for CDE this year, with many new contacts made and existing relationships strengthened; we even had time to squeeze in a little sightseeing and ride Britain’s oldest Electric Railway ‘Volks Electric Railway’, along Brighton Seafront.

Develop Brighton 2016 will take place on the 12th – 14th of July 2016, and CDE hopes to be a part of this inspirational event once again.
