Returning to this year’s Develop:Brighton is the Game Jam, sponsored by E Collective. Running from midday to midnight on Wed 15 July and from 8am to 2pm on Thurs 16 July – it’s your chance to come along and compete with fellow developers to see who will be crowned the Develop Game Jam Champions. The Develop Game Jam welcomes all levels of developer, from beginners to professionals. Teams of one to four people are welcome, regardless of experience. There will be a theme, revealed to participants 24 hours beforehand. Industry mentors will visit during the jam to discuss projects and give advice. The jam will finish with presentations and prizes.

It’s completely free to enter, but spaces are limited so grab yours!

12th European Conference on Visual Media Production CVMP 2015 – Call for Papers – deadline 6th July 2015 – For over a decade CVMP has built a reputation as the prime venue for researchers to meet with practitioners in the Creative Industries: film, broadcast, games. The Conference brings together expertise in video processing, computer vision, computer graphics, animation and physical simulation. It provides a forum for presentation of the latest research and application advances, combined with keynote and invited talks on state-of-the-art industry practice.

The conference will take place at the British Film Institute in London 24 – 25th November 2015. Papers are invited in all areas of visual media production related to film, games, and broadcast.

Leading Together in the Digital Economy – Monday 6th July 2015 – 10.00am – 3.30pm – The Wesley Hotel, Euston Street, London.

The Digital Economy Network is pleased to announce a 1-day event that will bring together students, researchers and early career academics involved in the wider Digital Economy.

The event will cover topics such as the role of serendipity in career paths, skills across genders and challenges/barriers faced at different career stages.

This one-day programme will include Guest speakers from across the DE field, panel and Q&A sessions, collaborative workshops and seminars. The launch of a Mentoring Networkfor Digital Economy early-career Academics and Researchers, to assist with the ever-growing importance of mentoring in this emergent, trans-disciplinary field. Opportunities to network with peers across the Digital Economy Doctoral Training Network. Registration is now open.

The BFX Festival is due to take place in Bournemouth again this year – 28th September – 4th October 2015. Further details are due to be announced shortly but we have been given a CDE slot, during which we hope to have a blend of social activity, industry and academic talks, a student exhibition and more. So pop these dates in your diary.

CHI Play 2015 will be taking place in London 5 – 7th October 2015. It would be great to have some CDE involvement with this. If anyone is interested in attending / or submitting workshop ideas / posters, please email [email protected].

COMPUTER GRAPHICS & VISUAL COMPUTING 2015

The 33rd Annual Conference organised by the UK Chapter of the Eurographics Association – 16-17 September 2015, University College London, UK. Call for contributions: 22 June 2015 (EXTENDED!)

The annual EGUK conference is a meeting place for all those in the UK working in computer graphics and visual computing. It attracts researchers from across the country and from further afield.

The 2015 conference Computer Graphics & Visual Computing will be an overnight meeting (lunchtime to lunchtime). The conference wants to focus on increasing the dialogue between academic research groups, and researchers in academic and in industrial developments. To facilitate such dialogue, we are seeking contributions mainly in the form of extended abstract and industrial demonstrations. However, we also welcome submissions of full papers.

15th IMA Conference on Mathematics of Surfaces – 14 -16 September 2016, University of Bath. Call for papers. Authors can submit an abstract to ensure alignment with conference themes; these should be submitted to the IMA Conferences Department by email to [email protected] by the end of November 2015. Full LaTeX papers must be submitted by end of January 2016. Further details can be found here.
