Alexandros Gouvatsos wins best poster at Pacific Graphics

‘Automatic 3D posing from 2D hand-drawing sketches’ by CDE Student Alex Gouvatsos was awarded Best Poster at the 22nd Pacific Graphics Conference in Seoul. This technique could help animation houses save significant time and money in pre-production.

Alex is based at the award-winning production house Hibbert Ralph Animation. His research is aimed at reducing the time and cost associated with pre-visualisation and pre-production. The method proposed avoids external assumptions about the model, making it incredibly adaptable and strengthening the intuitive link between initial sketches and the end result.

Pacific Graphics is one of the top-ranked conferences in the area of computer animation.
