Thomas Matthews International Research Visit

Last year CDE Research Engineer Thomas Matthews was incredibly lucky to travel to Los Angeles on a fully funded International Visit as part of his EngD research (see headline image). Thomas has written a report on his visit to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the research he took part in which you can read here.

Other CDE Researchers who are interested in setting up an International visit in the future should speak to Mike ( BU) or Sarah (UoB).

CDE welcomes Zoe Graham

We asked new Doctoral Training Coordinator Zoe Graham to introduce herself…….
Hello!
I’ve been working at the University of Bath for 10 months in the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems as an events officer and previously worked in events coordination jobs at Bath Spa University and in the hospitality sector. From April I’ll be joining the team as Doctoral Training Coordinator for both the CDE and the new doctoral training centre at the University of Bath ART-AI.
I studied film studies at the University of Kent, so am always up for a chat about film and television!
I’m really looking forward to working with the CDE team and students and helping to support all the exciting projects you are working on.

Naval and Catherine at IEEEVR

We were thrilled to announce last month that CDE Researchers Naval Bhandari and Catherine Taylor both had papers accepted at IEEEVR 2020 in Atlanta. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the conference had to be moved online. Thankfully that didn’t stop the presentations taking place virtually, sharing their amazing EngD research! The conference took place as planned from March 22nd to March 26th.

CDE Research Engineer Garoe Dorta has had his paper accepted at CVPR 2020. Garoe’s paper ‘The GAN that Warped: Semantic Attribute Editing with Unpaired Data’ will present his EngD research with the University of Bath and Anthropics. CVPR 2020 is due to take place in Seattle from the 16th to the 18th of June 2020 and is the premier annual computer vision event.

At the moment we are unsure if CVPR will be able to go ahead virtually but want to wish Garoe huge congratulations on such a great achievement.
